Sometimes a photography session is so much more than taking photos. That was exactly how it felt when I met Hannah and her beautiful baby K for a motherhood session at Beacon Fell in Lancashire. As we wandered through the forest, the golden light peeking through the trees, we found ourselves connecting not just as photographer and client, but as mothers. We spoke about matrescence—the profound transformation a woman goes through when she becomes a mother. It’s something often hard to put into words, yet it shapes every moment of motherhood.
When I photograph mothers, I try to see the world through a mother’s eyes: the soft gaze between mother and baby, the tiny fingers curled around yours and all the little details you'll want to remember for years to come. With Hannah and baby K, every frame felt like a quiet celebration of that bond. As we paused for breaks, breastfeeding and cuddles, our conversation turned to our birth stories. Sharing those raw and powerful memories reminded us that photography is not just about the images we capture—it’s about holding space for stories, emotions, and celebrating this season of motherhood.
Beacon Fell provided the perfect backdrop for this session: the trees, the earthy tones, and the stillness of nature was perfect to capture the connection between Hannah and her little one. For me, sessions like this are a reminder that photography is not just about creating beautiful images—it’s about documenting the essence of motherhood. The laughter, the tears, the quiet moments in between.
If you’re looking for a motherhood photography session in Lancashire, I would love to walk alongside you in this season of life and capture your story in a way that feels true and timeless.
