Trusting her intuition


Rhi knew she wanted a birth on her terms, after two hospital births home just felt like the right place.

Having chosen to plan a home birth with the support of the maternity team at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, she prepared for the birth she hoped for in the comfort of her own home.

Birth begins at home


Who you choose to have in your birth team matters way more than the environment. Rhi had her partner by her side, two wonderful midwives and myself as her birth photographer and birth keeper documenting her home birth as it unfolded.


Birth was unfolding beautifully, her favourite music was playing, fairy lights in the background as she rode the waves of labour.


She chose an unmedicated labour welcoming the sensations of birth using breath work and her birth team to lean on for emotional support.


There's a reason midwives recommend staying home as long as possible in early labour, it's where most people feel the most comfortable and allows the oxytocin to flow!

The moment he entered the world


As Rhi's partner was filling the pool I stepped to hold Rhi as she was ready to push her baby out. I was in awe of the strength and beauty of mothers and how every step of the way she made decisions rooted in her intuition that was right for her,


Moments later her baby was born as she pulled him up to her chest.


It truly was incredible to behold.
